• Whiteheads: Excess oil causing a follicle wall to bulge, resulting in pores being blocked by white plugs.
• Blackheads : Whiteheads, once open to the surface, can darken, causing blackheads. They resemble dirt stuck in pores but are actually pores congested with bacteria and oil. 

Areas such as the face, chest, upper back, and shoulders are particularly prone to this condition.

While acne is most common among teenagers, it can affect individuals of all ages.
